The PMRA Best Dissertation Award encourages and rewards exemplary public management research at the doctoral level.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration, dissertations must have been completed and defended between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.

Application Process

Nominations for this award will be accepted January 31 - February 20, 2025.

Complete this form, submitting the following two (2) documents:

• a letter explaining why the nominated dissertation merits this recognition
• a PDF copy of the dissertation

The submission deadline for the PMRA 2025 Awards has passed, and submissions are now closed.

Assessment Criteria

Each submission will be assessed based on the following criteria:

• Considers relevant theoretical and empirical literature;
• Employs an appropriate research design for the research question at hand;
• Provides thoughtful interpretation of research findings, validly infers theoretical and applied implications of the results, appropriately caveats the research results, and suggests promising directions for future research;
• Generates knowledge that is both practically and theoretically relevant;
• Is logically, concisely, and clearly written.

Award & Recognition

Awards will be presented at the 2025 Public Management Research Conference.

Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea, June 25-28, 2025

Also, awardees will receive:

• PMRC Conference registration fee waiver
• $500 in travel expense reimbursement to attend the 2024 PMRC Conference
• $500 cash award
