Avellaneda AwardThe Avellaneda Award recognizes the best scholarly article on the Global South published in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART) or Perspectives on Public Management and Governance (PPMG). The award honors research that advances understanding of governance, administration, and public management in developing and emerging contexts and strengthens the global reach of public management scholarship. For the inaugural award, eligible articles are those published between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2025. The award is open to single-authored and co-authored articles. Application ProcessThere is no public nomination or application process for the Avellaneda Award. Eligible articles are identified and reviewed by the PMRA Awards Committee in coordination with journal leadership. The selection process is conducted in accordance with PMRA bylaws and policies. The Avellaneda Award is conferred on a triennial basis. The inaugural award will be presented at the 2026 Public Management Research Conference and will recognize eligible articles published in Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART) or Perspectives on Public Management and Governance (PPMG) between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2025. Subsequent awards will be presented every three years, with eligibility periods aligned accordingly. For example, the 2029 award will consider articles published between January 2026 and December 2028, and the 2032 award will consider articles published between January 2029 and December 2031.
